Operations & Resource Manager
The Operations & Resource Manager (ORM) takes care of all non-scientific aspects of managing the research teams with a focus on people, performance, processes, planning and budget. Together with the research leader, the ORM is responsible for the output and development of individuals and teams.
The Operations & Resource Manager (ORM) is responsible for people and performance management and all operational tasks with respect to the budget and planning process. The ORM takes responsibility for the recruitment process and training and onboarding of new employees. They connect the operational side of lab management, both at department level but also across departments. The ORM takes responsibility for enhancing the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and quality of the operational processes and initiates improvement. They oversee the implementation of operational processes and ensures a smooth operation of the labs in the department (i.e. compliance, safety, training). The ORM coordinates the organization of departmental meetings and participates in projects related to development of organizational processes. The ORM works closely together with the Scientific and Technology Experts, contributes to the development of a workforce that perfectly matches the business needs and to the creation of optimal conditions for the Expert teams.
The ORM keeps an MSc degree (or comparable) in Life Sciences or a related field and has
- more than 5 years of experience in people and process management in a bio-business setting, preferably in small/mid-size companies
- experience in people and performance management
- experience in budgeting process
- experience in managing internal improvement projects according to timelines and budgets
- a can-do mentality and the ability to multi-task
- experience in working with MS Office software (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- fluent in written and spoken English.
