(Sr.) Research Associate

The position

As (Sr.) Research Associate you are part of a team of Scientists and (Sr.) RA’s with whom you closely collaborate. You strengthen the team with your up-to-date knowledge of- and experience in the field of protein production, purification and characterization. Your activities range from protein expression by transient transfection, protein purification by chromatography techniques, HPLC analysis of proteins, protein binding kinetics (e.g. Octet) to execution of other biochemical analysis methods like CE-SDS/SDS-PAGE. You also provide support to other lab activities, e.g. material compatibility studies. You will perform your work within a small team in a growing laboratory environment with state of the art lab equipment. You document your lab work accurately in (electronic) lab notebooks and support writing protocols and SOPs. You are involved in technical and scientific discussions, support your colleagues in the lab with your expertise and contribute to advancing LAVA’s pipeline of antibodies. Your level of responsibility will be based on your previously gained experience.


As (Sr.) Research Associate at LAVA you have an innovative, goal-oriented, flexible and collaborative mindset. You enjoy working in a small and growing team and are familiar with setting up and adhering to lab and safety procedures. You are well organized and can handle and/or support several projects at once. You are a team-player and possess excellent communication skills.

Moreover, we ask the following of you:

  • A HLO/BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience within biotech/pharma or at CROs.
  • You are experienced in protein production, purification and characterization
  • At least have some experience with handling Äkta purification systems
  • Experience with analysis software like GraphPad Prism.
  • Experience with documentation of lab data in (electronic) lab notebooks.
  • Professional level English language skills, both written and verbal.
