Research Assistant

The position

At LAVA, the Research Assistant is responsible for executing recurrent lab processes to support our different research projects. These lab processes mainly consist of cell culture and the isolation of primary cells. In addition to that, you will support general lab activities, to help LAVA in the development of bispecific therapeutic antibodies. You perform day-to-day, mostly standardized experimental lab activities according to research protocols and you accurately record your activities in a lab notebook. You make sure that LAVA’s lab facilities are maintained in good condition and you are responsible for keeping the stock of regular lab supplies (including consumables, plastics etc.) up-to-date. Thereby you will also be responsible for the preparation of general media and supplements for the lab team. Finally, with your experience, you support the team of (Sr.) Research Associates and the Lab Manager on several aspects.

As Research Assistant at LAVA you like to execute standard lab processes in an accurate and efficient way. You have a service-oriented, flexible and collaborative mindset. You enjoy working in a small and growing team and are familiar with maintenance of lab spaces, basic lab equipment and lab supplies. You are well organized and can handle multiple activities at once without losing oversight. You are a team-player and possess good communication skills.

Moreover, we ask the following of you:

  • An MLO degree in biotech, cell biology or similar (e.g. “Allround Laborant” or “Biomedisch Analist”).
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience. Biotech experience has added value.
  • Knowledge of (primary) cell culturing processes as well as experience in isolation of cells from blood. Some experience in Flow Cytometry is a clear plus.
  • Experience with documentation of lab data in (electronic) lab notebooks.
  • Professional level English language skills, both written and verbal.
